“Ingredients like sucralose, aspartame, and acesulfame potassium may confuse the brain leading to more indulgence. They eventually cause upset stomachs, nausea, and diarrohea. Moreover, alternative sweeteners can cause obesity,” she adds.22

There are other ways for us to hold on to the delicious softies and maintain our diet at the same time. Opting for single servings instead of hogging down a whole tub or a sundae is always better. Hydrate yourself before you dive into a bowl of ice – cold goodness. People often confuse thirst for hunger and ice cream is the first thing that comes to our mind when the temperature is even a tad bit hotter.

They are an excellent source for saturated fats, cholesterol and sugar. Excess consumption on dietary substances that are rich in any of these can lead to increase in blood cholesterol levels and cause a heightened risk of heart diseases.

As the saying goes, ‘too much of anything is bad’, it is advisable to keep a close watch on the quantity of the ice cream intake and the number of times you eat on a monthly basis.
