GHMC would be offering lung space to the residents of Old City by throwing open a park at Kishanbagh. The park spread over five acres was developed at a cost of `6.2 crore by GHMC on Kishanbagh Main Road in Hyderabad.
Once open, it would provide a soothing space to residents of numerous colonies in Attapur, Kishanbagh and MM Pahadi areas.
The park was planned three years ago and gained shape only now. “It is adept with all kinds of facilities, including walk track, seating gallery, internal and external pathways, children’s play area, greenery and is well illuminated,” said GHMC Commissioner (South) S. Srinivas Reddy.
The GHMC-managed major park facility was coming after a gap of 10 years in the Old City. So far, only one park at Imliban, adjacent to the bus station, was developed on seven acres.
Officials felt that big parks were missing in Old City due to unplanned and unchecked development. “Wherever possible we are trying to develop parks, small or big for the benefit of the public. The area is deprived of lung space and there are only a handful of facilities compared to other areas in the city,” said officials.
“With great difficulty we could take up the developmental activity. Earlier, there were objections from certain government departments over the land. But now the project is complete and the park will be opened next week,” said Kishanbagh corporator Mohd Saleem. #KhabarLive
