The Osmania University will establish the State’s first Centre for Cyber Security and Cyber Law on its campus here shortly. Through the centre, the varsity will take up research activity in Cyber Security and Cyber Laws apart from offering professional courses in such subjects.

The decision to set up the centre comes in the wake of the growing number of cyber threats, cybercrimes and dearth of trained professionals to curb such crimes and threats in the country.

According to recent reports, India requires about 30 lakh cyber security professionals, but there are not even one lakh available as of now. After setting up the centre, the University intends to offer new professional courses including MTech in Cyber Security, besides adding a special subject to existing undergraduate engineering courses.
