These three cloud platforms dominate the market by providing various benefits like storage extension, on-demand services, resource management, and innovative solutions for smaller businesses. AWS vs Azure Google Cloud

Features and Services

The basic capabilities of all the cloud platforms are largely similar. Google Cloud Platform, on the other hand, uses a one-stop-shop AI platform, which helps organizations to build and deploy models based on deep learning libraries like TensorFlow. It also supports managed services like containers and Kubernetes.

AWS offers EC2 instances that can be customized for various scenarios and tailored with many options. AWS provides various storage services including Amazon Glacier for cold storage, Elastic file system for File storage,  elastic block store for Virtual servers, and Amazon simple storage service to achieve object storage. 

The compute service of Microsoft Azure revolves around Virtual Machines. Tools like cloud services and resource managers help the user to easily deploy applications on the cloud and take the benefit of Azure autoscaling services. For object storage, Azure provides Blob storage, Managed disks for virtual servers, Azure file storage for file storage, Archive blog storage for cold storage. 

The scalable compute engine from the google cloud platform provides high customization options, disk storage, performance, and virtual machines in the data centers. All three platforms support relational databases such as MySQL, NoSQL, Redshift, Bigtable, DynamoDB, etc. When it comes to the storage services, GCP offers Google cloud storage for simple object storage, compute engine persistent disks for virtual servers, Google cloud storage nearline for cold storage, and Avere as a file storage system. 

Hybrid Options

It’s a growing trend where the data is stored and computing is performed on multiple cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and even On-premises infrastructure. For this, vendors have responded with various solutions to the customers who want to store some applications or data On-premises and store the remaining data on the public cloud. 

With the launch of Outposts, AWS introduced their fully managed service where the customers can have on-premised pre-configured racks where they can AWS services as if it was their data center. It’s a fairly new technology which the majority of professionals don’t know much about. However, they can get reputed AWS Solutions Architect Certification and get the relevant skills. 

Microsoft is perhaps the best option for hybrid developments thanks to the well-established Azure stack. It provides all the hardware and software required to create a shared management portal and code applications for simple interoperability. 

Google released its hybrid cloud service platform named Anthos in the year 2019. It combines existing google services including the configuration management system, Google Kubernetes Engine, and GKE On-premises that unifies the Kubernetes deployment, administration, policies, and security. 

Pricing

For EC2 and EBS, AWS has shifted its pricing from by-the-hour to by-the-second, which brought that into the line with Google cloud and Azure. However, an accurate comparison between the price models of these three services would not be possible as they slightly differ in features. A customer can try these services using free introductory tiers before actually buying the service.
