A statement given by Telangana health minister Eatala Rajender that there was every possibility of Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao becoming the chief minister in place of his father K Chandrasekhar Rao has lent credence to the speculations that have been going on for the last few days.

“KTR may become the chief minister. Definitely, it might happen. So what? What is wrong in it?” Eatala said, in an interview to a television channel.

He pointed out that in the absence of KCR, his son was taking active part in various programmes.

“There might be various reasons for the change of guard in the state. There is no need for going deep into it,” he said.

Eatala pointed out that KTR was looking after 99 per cent of the party and the government programmes.

“He launched the recent vaccination programme and as a health minister, I attended the same. On many occasions when KCR is not available, KTR is holding the forte,” he said.

Eatala’s comments led to the talk on whether KCR was planning to retire from politics or confine himself to the party activities only.

“I think KCR is contemplating retiring from active politics. May be, he is feeling tired,” former MP and Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Vijayashanti said.

She questioned why the chief minister, who was supposed to give a message to the people and appeal to them to be bold in the vaccination programme, chose to confine himself to his farmhouse.

“If he is a real chief minister, he should have been in the people and know the people’s problems. It appears, he has stopped taking interest in the government activities,” she said.

Interestingly, KCR had a tour of his favourite project Kaleshwaram on Tuesday and inspected the water pumping programme. He also prayed Lord Shiva at Kaleshwaram temple. #KhabarLive #hydnews
