About six weeks after the launch of Mukesh Ambani’s grocery retail platform Jio Mart (JioMart), more than 50 lakh downloads have been done on the Google Play store. This app was released on the Play Store on 16 July 2020 and it was downloaded more than 10 lakhs within about five days. On an average, it is being downloaded 7-8 lakh times every week.

Bigbasket and growers will get a competition

Geomart is primarily competing with Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba-backed BigBasket and Japanese startup Backer Softbank funding company Grofers. Both apps have been downloaded over 1 crore times on the Play Store. Big Basket was launched in May 2013 and Grofers in December 2014.

Jio Mart has a rating of 4.7

Jio Mart has a rating of 4.7 while Big Basket App has a rating of 4.2 and Grofers has a rating of 4.1. Amazon Pantry and Flipkart Supermart are present in India in the online grocery segment. They are expected to achieve a growth rate of 60 percent CAGR by 2022.

The company is giving a 5 percent discount on MRP

Reliance is delivering in more than 200 cities. The app was launched about two months after launching the Geomart website. App and website are getting 5 percent discount. In December 2019, Reliance launched Jio Mart in some areas of Mumbai. There are more than 50,000 products available on Jio Mart related to the everyday needs of common customers. Jio Mart works with the grocery stores around the customer to provide goods.

Free home delivery on all orders

Jiomart is also offering free home delivery on all orders. Apart from this, there is also a Reliance One or ROne loyalty program for customers, in which ROne points can be earned and used in the next transaction. Apart from this, the company is offering many types of offers.

Amazon and Flipkart charge delivery charges

Apart from the JioMoney wallet, users will be able to pay from other mobile wallets while ordering at JioMart. With this, if you do not use mobile wallet, then you will also be able to make payment by debit or credit card, net banking and cash on delivery. At the same time, Amazon delivers orders above Rs 799 for free. Flipkart delivers orders over Rs 600 for free. Grofers delivers orders of more than 800, while Big Basket delivers 1,200 orders for free.

Electronics, fashion and healthcare products will be available soon

At the 43rd AGM of Reliance Industries Limited, the company’s chairman Mukesh Ambani had said that in addition to groceries, electronics, fashion, healthcare, pharmaceutical products will also be available soon at Jio Mart. Currently, only grocery shopping can be purchased on the beta version of Jiomart.

Recently, Jio Mart has released a number to launch its services through WhatsApp. For shopping from here, customers have to dial WhatsApp number 8850008000 on their phone.
