After nearly two and a half months of fight with Coronavirus pandemic by imposing lockdowns, the Telangana government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have thrown up his hands and left it to the fate of the gods.

In the initial days of lockdown, KCR used to say that the situation was under control thanks to strict restrictions. He even threatened to issue shoot at sight orders if the people violated lockdown.

He strongly argued for extension of lockdown saying the country can bring the economy back on rails later, but saving people’s lives is more important. Even before the Centre extended the lockdown, KCR used to do it hurriedly.

But now, KCR has realised that nothing has worked out. Even after three months of lockdown, the cases are only rising and the deaths are mounting.

In the last 12 days, there were as many as 37 deaths and 833 new Corona cases in the state. It has been spreading in the community very fast.

On Saturday, the health officials have declared that there is no point in continuing the lockdown forever and the people themselves should take care to protect themselves, as the government alone cannot control them.

And KCR seems to be looking at the gods.

On Friday, in the name of inaugurating Konda Pochamma Sagar Reservoir, the Telangana chief minister conducted two separate Yagnams – Chandi Homam and Sudershana Yagam in Siddipet seeking divine intervention to overcome all obstacles in the development of the state and ward off evils plaguing the state like Covid-19 pandemic.

First, KCR and his wife Shobha took part in Chandi Homam at the Kondapochamma temple at Teegul Narsapur village of Jagdevpur mandal and offered “Poornahuti” indicating the successful completion of the homam to appease the goddess.

The couple also took “Veda Asheervachanam” (blessings) from the Vedic pundits.

Later, KCR went to Kondapochamma Sagar project site, where he welcomed popular Vaishnavaite seer Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.

Both of them took part in Sudershana Yagam at the pump house and offered “purnahuti” to the deities. #KhabarLive #hydnews
